THE INSTITUTION OF ABUSE/ON WHO'S AUTHORITY
So what are we supposed to do as Christians when the leaders that God has placed over us are abusing their power?
Well, first of all, as Americans, we need to realize that our True authority comes from God first and second from our Constitution. The 56 men who heard and answered the challenge 239 years ago responded with God's Word and our U.S. Constitution. WE THE PEOPLE are not under any obligation to pledge allegiance to the president, congress, and/or the supreme court.
THE INSTITUTION OF ABUSE:
A true leader and/or government is one that serves and is willing to lay down their lives for their people. Leaders do not have the right to interfere in our personal lives and there are definite limits to their authority. President Obama and his group of aristocrats have been engaged in usurpations - the exercise of powers by an agent which have not been delegated to them by the principal (in this case our U.S. Constitution).
Our U.S. Constitution legitimizes acts by our government and not the other way around. The U.S. Constitution requires the Supreme Court to leave the issue of same sex marriage (which in and of itself should be called same sex unions because marriage has only one true definition) to the states. The Constitution gives no intent or text that requires states to redefine marriage. What has transpired (in this case and several others recently) is the fact that our government has taken it upon themselves to substitute their own definitions and judgments for what the people actually meant when they passed the law originally. ***AMENDMENTS TO THE CONSTITUTION ARE THE PROPER WAY TO CHANGE THE CONSTITUTION AS OUR SOCIETY DEVELOPS***
IF WE THE PEOPLE ALLOW THIS TO CONTINUE, WE WILL NO LONGER ENJOY ANY RIGHTS! AND AMERICA, AS THE STANDARD OF DEMOCRACY, WILL CRUMBLE JUST AS FAST AS IT CAME INTO EXISTENCE!
Hebrews 13:7 states: "Remember your leaders and superiors in authority (for it was they who brought you to the Word of God. Observe intently and consider their manner of living (the outcome of their well-spent lives) and imitate their faith and their conviction that God exists and is the Creator and Ruler of all things ..."
Other Scriptures that teach us to submit to those whom the Lord has placed over us are: Acts 20:28-31, 1st Timothy 1:3,4, and 11 and Hebrews 13.
As Frederick Douglas (civil rights activist, August 4 1857), a man of great foresight, says, " FIND OUT JUST WHAT THE PEOPLE WILL SUBMIT TO AND YOU HAVE FOUND OUT THE EXACT AMOUNT OF INJUSTICE AND WRONG WHICH WILL BE IMPOSED UPON THEM; AND THESE ACTS WILL CONTINUE UNTIL THEY ARE RESISTED WITH EITHER WORDS OR BLOWS, OR WITH BOTH. THE LIMITS OF TYRANTS ARE PRESCRIBED BY THE EVIDENCE OF THOSE WHOM THEY OPPRESS."
Now of course, Mr. Douglas was referring to the issue of slavery, but his words transcend TRUTH concerning our present state today as a nation.
